Annapolis MWA January Meeting With Denise Camacho

Local book publisher Denise Camacho has agreed to speak at the Maryland Writers’ Association – Annapolis Chapter meeting on Wednesday January 15, 2014. She will speak on her experiences in starting a traditional publishing company and on the differences between traditional and indie publications. Denise is also a board member of the Creatures, Crimes & Creativity literary conference. The meeting is open to the public and free to MWA members and first-time guests. All others may pay $5.00. Annual dues to MWA are $40.00 and include other benefits on top of monthly attendance. MWA meetings meet the third Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm in room 205 at Maryland Hall. Maryland Hall is located at 801 Chase Street, Annapolis, MD 21401. About the speaker: As the president of Intrigue Publishing, Denise Camacho has spent over 13 years navigating through the publishing pitfalls and has finally brought Intrigue into the traditional publisher realm. Denise spends most of her time reading new submissions and working with the acquisitions team to find those works that are worthy of becoming Intrigue properties. Intrigue is currently taking submissions for crime drama, sensual romance, urban drama and young adult.

Along with running Intrigue, Denise is very involved with helping authors learn about publishing and marketing and how to avoid some of the major pitfalls within the industry.
